Approval of De-notification of Justice Tariq Mahmood Jahangiri

The President approved the de-notification of Islamabad High Court judge Justice Tariq Mahmood Jahangiri on the Prime Minister’s advice. According to the Presidency, the approval followed the Islamabad High Court’s decision declaring his appointment illegal and directing him to vacate the office. The court held that at the time of appointment he did not meet eligibility requirements due to the issue of a valid LL.B degree. A two-member bench had earlier declared him ineligible for the judgeship in the degree case.
