President Asif Ali Zardari congratulated Japan’s Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi on her Liberal Democratic Party’s historic and decisive victory in lower house elections, resulting in a clear majority in the House of Representatives. In a statement from the Presidency’s press wing, he said the win reflects the Japanese people’s strong confidence in Takaichi’s leadership and their determination to make Japan stronger and more prosperous. He noted that the exceptional public mandate—described as a record for the party since 1955—signals public endorsement of the prime minister’s policy direction and governance agenda at a sensitive time for Japan. He expressed best wishes for Prime Minister Takaichi, saying he hopes she will successfully fulfill the responsibilities entrusted to her by the Japanese people, and voiced confidence that Japan will continue on a path of stability, progress, and prosperity under her leadership. The president also reiterated Pakistan’s wish to further strengthen Pakistan–Japan friendly relations and expand cooperation in areas of mutual interest for the benefit of both nations’ people.
